Few individuals have the depth of knowledge about Fountain Hills than Gail Gridley Oliphant. A resident of the community since 1973, she and her well-known and respected family have participated in every era of the community’s growth. As a local entrepreneur and business owner, she raised her 3 children in the community, participating in numerous organizations and activities as they became successful adults. Today she is a tireless volunteer and a Realtor, helping others develop their love affair with Fountain Hills.
Respected Business Owner: Along with her parents Fay and Jack Gridley, Gail owned and operated Gridley’s of Fountain Hills since its founding in 1973, just 3 years after Fountain Hills got its start. A general store that provided office supplies, art and craft materials, framing, and gifts, the closing of the store in 2017 was a seen as a huge loss by many in the community. During its years of operation, the Gridley Family helped to start the local Chamber of Commerce, have served on numerous boards and foundations, as well as serving Scouting and the Fountain Hills Theater.
Volunteer/contributor: Over the years, Gail’s philosophy has been to give back to the community she loves. She has served the Fountain Hills Art League, was a founding board member of the Fountain Hills Library Association and helped with many school activities (track & field, basketball, FCLA, sewing program, Falcon Fiesta to name a few). Currently, Gail volunteers with Fearless Kitty Rescue, and donates her time working on costumes for the Fountain Hills Theater. She has garnered several AriZonis and Prism Awards for her work with the theater.
Every year, Gail sponsors a Scouting Scholarship at the Fountain Hills High School to a graduating senior who has actively served their community, and participated in the Boys or Girl Scouts. Coming from a scouting family, Gail’s family has always participated in the Girls and Boys Scouts. Her father Jack, and her son Andy are Eagle Scouts; Andy participated in the International Scouting Jamboree held in England.
A New Way To Serve Fountain Hills: With the closing of Gridley’s, Gail decided it was time to put her love of Fountain Hills to work and joined the premier firm of Sonoran Lifestyle Real Estate as a real estate agent.
Dori Wittrig, President of Sonoran Lifestyle, says about Gail: “Our philosophy is that homebuyers have to first fall in love with Fountain Hills, and no one is more capable of telling the community’s story than Gail Gridley Oliphant. I have known and worked alongside her as a business woman and volunteer, and she has amazing organizational and business skills,” adds, Wittrig, who served with Gail as a Girl Scout Leader in the 1990’s.
“I was shocked and saddened when Gridley’s of Fountain Hills closed their doors, but not surprised about Gail’s passion for real estate. She has conquered her first months with gusto and I have no doubt she’ll be a rising star in the Fountain Hills’ real estate community.”
