Now more than ever seniors and shut-ins need to know that someone will be checking on them. Or for their long-distance families to have peace of mind that someone can quickly check the state of their well-being.
Fountain Hills residents have two programs for this purpose: Lockboxes for Seniors and the RUOK program.
LOCKBOXES FOR SENIORS
Lockboxes for Seniors allows police and firefighters to enter your home in an emergency without having to break in. This is a valuable tool in case you are unable to get to the door.
This program for seniors and others with special needs is free for those with an annual income under $25,000. The cost is only $25 for all others.
MCSO helps to oversee this program in Fountain Hills, while Scottsdale Police and Fire Departments handle Scottsdale. Your information and code are only shared with first responders in the event of an emergency.
For more information about Lockboxes for Seniors, call 1-877-229-5042 (toll-free).
The RUOK program stands for “Are you OK?”. Through this program, participants receive check-up phone calls from MCSO at a designated time each day. If no one answers the phone after several tries, MCSO deputies arrive at the home to check on the resident.
This program is limited to residents of Maricopa County and those living within the boundaries of Fountain Hills.
