Discover the River of Time Museum in Fountain Hills This Summer

Looking for a fun and educational activity in Fountain Hills this summer? The River of Time Museum & Exploration Center offers interactive exhibits, fascinating artifacts, and hands-on experiences that help visitors learn about the history of Fountain Hills and the surrounding Sonoran Desert.

Visitors can discover how Native cultures, early settlers, and modern communities adapted to life in the desert. The museum highlights the important role water has played in shaping Arizona and offers practical information about water conservation that families can use at home.

The museum also hosts educational programs, guided experiences, and community events throughout the year for visitors of all ages.

Summer Programs for Kids and Families

This summer, the River of Time Museum is partnering with Maricopa County Reads, one of the nation’s largest summer reading programs. Through the museum’s “Go With the Flow with the River of Time” program, children can complete challenges, participate in hands-on activities, and earn badges and prizes while exploring museum exhibits.

Families can also enjoy a Summer Scavenger Hunt running throughout the summer, along with special children’s programs including:

  • Bat-Tastic Adventure (Ages 4-6)– June 20, 2026
  • Dino-Detectives (Ages 4-6)– July 30, 2026
  • Special Mommy & Meevents featuring story time, crafts, and exhibit exploration

Blue Star Museums Program

The River of Time Museum is proud to participate in the Blue Star Museums Program, a nationwide initiative that provides free admission to active-duty military personnel and their families.

From May 16 through September 7, 2026, active-duty military members and up to five family members can receive free admission by presenting a military ID at the museum. Eligible participants include members of the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Navy, Space Force, National Guard, Reserves, NOAA Corps, and U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps.

  • The Blue Star Museums program is a partnership between the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and museums across the country to thank military families for their service and sacrifice.
