Golf: A Great Escape from Covid

Dori Wittrig January 22, 2021

Golf is on everyone’s mind with the Phoenix Open starting on February 1. The event will have limited fans and venues, but event organizers are still aiming to maintain their status as a world-class event.

Known as “The Greatest Show on Grass”, this Phoenix Open debuted in 1932 and quickly became the best-attended event in golf. Portions of the event proceeds are used by the Thunderbirds to fund Special Olympics activities in Phoenix.

Whether you score tickets to the event or not, this is a great time of year to play golf in the Valley of the Sun.

One of the distinguishing assets of Fountain Hills, the Verdes, and Fort McDowell is a collection of numerous golf courses in a remarkable 8-mile radius. The golf lifestyle of this area is all about savoring the views and enjoying the serene outdoors in the Sonoran Desert.

COVID-19 GUIDELINES:

All golf courses in the area are following recommended guidelines including personal hygiene and social distancing. Masks are required indoors at all facilities, but usually not required while outdoors. Most courses have removed bunker rakes, turned cups upside down, and golf carts sanitized after each game.
